Uniting members from organizations committed to addressing maternal mental health by engaging stakeholders, raising awareness, and advocating for change in policies and practices to ensure all mothers receive the help they need so they and their families can thrive.
Who We Are
The National Coalition formed in 2014 to address the critical public health crisis impacting women and families in the U.S. We realized the systemic inefficiencies and barriers to care for women around maternal mental health complications and illnesses would require all of us coming together to solve the problem.
Maternal mental health disorders like depression and anxiety impact 15-20% of women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. That's 1 in 7 pregnancies and a lot of moms and families who have suffered and are suffering now.
Take Action
Our advocacy made a difference! In December, both the House and Senate passed H.R. 3235/S.2311 "Bringing Postpartum Depression Out of the Shadows Act of 2015"! This bill was included in the 21st Century Cures Act.
